A chance of rain returns late Monday night into early Tuesday. Tuesday looks cooler and wetter, with a chance of rain and highs remaining in the 60s.
Northeast winds will gust around 20 to 25 knots Tuesday, with stronger gusts possible in coastal areas. Wednesday and Thursday should be cooler, with highs in the 60s and a chance of showers.
Rougher Weather Along The Coast
The prolonged northeast flow could make for a rough stretch along New York City's waterfront and ocean beaches. Forecasters are warning of high surf, dangerous rip currents, beach erosion and the potential for minor to possibly moderate coastal flooding from midweek into late week, with ocean seas potentially rising above 12 feet.
The weekend could bring heavy rain and very strong winds, including storm-force winds over the outer ocean Friday.
