Four unidentified people gathered outside 118 East 184th Street in Fordham late on September 9, and within moments two of them pulled out guns and opened fire at a target who has not been identified. No one was hit, nothing was damaged, and all four suspects disappeared into the night before officers could catch up with them.
The shooting happened at approximately 11:03 p.m. inside the boundaries of the 46th Precinct, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers
, which is now asking the public for help identifying those responsible. The agency has classified the incident as an attempted assault and says the four individuals fled in an unknown direction immediately after the gunfire. Despite the two suspects displaying and discharging firearms directly at the unidentified victim, investigators report no injuries and no property damage from the encounter.

A Corridor With a Recent History of Gunfire
East 184th Street and the surrounding Fordham blocks have seen repeated shootings in recent years. In July, a 29-year-old man was fatally shot in the head during an argument with two men inside the basement of M Lounge Restaurant on Jerome Avenue near East 184th Street, according to the New York Daily News. That outlet reported the two men he had been arguing with ran off and had not been caught at the time of its story.
Just blocks away on Ryer Avenue, two men in their twenties were shot in November 2025 near the Grand Concourse and East 183rd–184th Streets, per Norwood News. That shooting happened around 9:41 p.m., leaving one man shot in the foot and another in the leg; both were described as stable. The outlet reported no arrests had been made and the investigation remained ongoing, and it also noted a separate shooting at a nearby Dunkin' Donuts in March 2024, about a block from the Ryer Avenue scene.
Other Shootings Along East 184th Street
Bronx News 12 has reported on additional shootings tied to the same stretch of East 184th Street. A 60-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot on East 184th Street and Grand Concourse, suffering a single gunshot wound to his ankle and remaining in stable condition, the station reported. No arrests had been made in that case as of the report.
The station separately reported that a 31-year-old grocery store worker was shot outside a bodega at 97 East 184th Street around 8 p.m. on a Sunday, following what police described as a dispute inside the store. None of these earlier incidents have been confirmed to involve the same suspects, weapons, or circumstances as the September 9 shooting outside 118 East 184th Street, and investigators have not tied them together.
