A Ford Mustang barreled off U.S. 35 and tore into a Ross County home early Wednesday morning, leaving the driver and two people inside the house with serious injuries. All three were rushed to Adena Regional Hospital in Chillicothe after the 6:14 a.m. crash near milepost 37 in Jefferson Township.
The driver, 32-year-old Christopher Robinette of Jackson, was behind the wheel of a 2022 Ford Mustang traveling westbound on U.S. 35 when he failed to negotiate a curve, according to sciotopost.com. The car veered off the right side of the roadway and plowed directly into a nearby residence, striking two people who were inside at the time.
Those occupants have been identified as Matthew Reynolds and Holley Reynolds, both of whom were struck when the Mustang entered their home, per the same account. Robinette, Matthew Reynolds and Holley Reynolds all sustained serious injuries and were transported to Adena Regional Hospital in Chillicothe by Jefferson Township EMS.
One Lane of U.S. 35 Closed for Two Hours as Troopers Investigate
The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Chillicothe Post responded to the scene, and one lane of U.S. 35 was closed for approximately two hours while troopers worked the crash site, sciotopost.com reports. As of the latest reporting, the crash remains under investigation.
Multiple agencies pitched in at the scene. The Highway Patrol was assisted by Jefferson Township Fire and EMS, the Ross County Sheriff's Office, Sprouse Towing and the Ohio Department of Transportation, according to sciotopost.com's report.
