Toledo police are investigating two early-Saturday shootings in North Toledo that detectives believe may be connected. A 47-year-old man was shot while walking near Chestnut and Hudson streets, while a 45-year-old man was shot as he rode his bicycle near East Manhattan Boulevard and Cecelia Avenue. In both cases, the victims said they were shot by people they did not know and described a passing vehicle.
According to WTVG, officers were called to the 500 block of East Oakland Street after the first shooting and found the 47-year-old suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police reports reviewed by The Blade place the shooting more precisely near Chestnut and Hudson streets at about 12:13 a.m. Saturday, as the man walked home.
Second Victim Sought Help Blocks Away
The second victim was riding near East Manhattan Boulevard and Cecelia Avenue when he was shot. He went to a nearby business for help before being taken for medical treatment.
St. Vincent, founded in 1855 as Toledo's first hospital, now operates as an American College of Surgeons-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, according to Mercy Health.
How the shootings fit Toledo's 2026 figures
According to WTOL 11's report of Toledo police midyear statistics, 92 people had been shot citywide through the first six months of 2026, compared with 82 during the same period in 2025, a 12% increase. The cited midyear figure is citywide and does not provide a separate North Toledo total; the two incidents described here occurred after that six-month reporting period.
The current cases also differ from a separately documented 2026 vehicle-involved shooting. In that case, gunfire near Byrne and Avondale on March 14 struck a 10-year-old inside a vehicle, and 13ABC reported that the defendant was later sentenced to prison. The North Toledo cases involve two adult men who were walking or bicycling, and no public suspect description or outcome has been reported for them.
Little to Go On for Investigators
Detectives believe the shootings are connected, but the police reports contained few details about the shooters or the vehicle involved, according to the station's account. No suspect descriptions or vehicle details had been released publicly, and both investigations remained active.
The attacks unfolded overnight in North Toledo.

Separately, on Sunday evening, a 23-year-old man was shot inside a home on the 5200 block of Winona Road in West Toledo, which was riddled with bullet holes. The shooting occurred at about 6:47 p.m., and the man was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, The Blade reported.

Potential Charges Under Ohio Law
Under Ohio Revised Code sections 2923.161 and 2903.11, firing at or into an occupied structure, school safety zone or peace officer is covered by the former, while the latter covers felonious assault by deadly weapon, according to Zukerman Law. State firearm specifications under ORC 2941.145 also require mandatory additional consecutive prison time on top of any underlying sentence.
