A driver towing another vehicle rolled up to the Taco Bell drive-thru on College Avenue in Appleton and left behind a mess: a knocked-down bollard, kicked-up dirt, and a lot of unanswered questions. Appleton police say the pickup truck pulled the towed car over a curb before taking off, and now they're asking the public for help tracking down who was behind the wheel.
The incident happened at 5:15 p.m. at the College Avenue Taco Bell, according to fox11online.com. Appleton police are searching for a hit-and-run driver they say caused significant damage to the restaurant's drive-thru, and the department posted security-camera footage of the incident to its Facebook page in hopes that someone recognizes the truck or the people involved.
Security-camera video obtained by Storyful and highlighted by FOX6 News Milwaukee shows the full sequence playing out on September 17. A pickup truck towed another car through the Taco Bell drive-thru lane, and at one point a man completed the order while standing on the towed car's plank, an odd detail that only adds to the confusion of what police are calling a hit-and-run.
Truck Pulls Towed Car Over a Curb
As the pickup driver maneuvered through the lane, the towed car got pulled over a curb, according to the footage. That move knocked down a bollard and sent the towed car kicking up dirt, the same footage shows. Moments later, the truck and its tow left the property, according to the video reviewed by FOX6 News Milwaukee.
The Appleton Police Department has not said whether anyone has been identified, cited, or arrested in connection with the crash. What the department has made clear is that it wants tips: anyone with information is asked to contact police, per the same footage it provided for the case. The department also requested that anyone with details about the hit-and-run reach out directly rather than let the incident go unresolved.
