A theft and threats were reported at a local 7-Eleven. Ramzi Braham now faces up to 20 years in prison on a single count of false report or threat of terrorism.

According to ClickOnDetroit, a theft and threats were reported at a 7-Eleven.

Felony Warrant Follows Investigation

The Oakland County Prosecutor's Office Warrants Division later issued a one-count felony warrant charging Braham with false report or threat of terrorism, a charge punishable by up to 20 years in prison per the same report. Three days after the 7-Eleven incident, investigators returned to the area to execute a search warrant at a residence in the 6200 block of Darramoor Road in Bloomfield Township.

Police requested assistance from Oakland County SWAT and Michigan State Police as a precaution during that search, the article notes. Braham was arraigned the same day, Oct. 22, in 48th District Court, where he received a $25,000 cash or surety bond with a 10% option.

Part of a Broader Pattern in Michigan

Braham's case lands amid a string of recent terrorism-threat prosecutions across Michigan. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has said threats against officials at all levels of government are becoming increasingly common, according to CBS News Detroit. That report also detailed the case of Anthony Dekinderen, 61, of Lake Orion, who faces nine counts of false report or threat of terrorism — each a 20-year felony — after prosecutors say he emailed a Michigan journalist threatening to kill Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and the Michigan Supreme Court. The same report noted Alicia Choucair, 33, of Roseville, was charged with two counts of false report or threat of terrorism along with a computer-crime count and a hate-crime count.

Elsewhere in Oakland County, Daniel James Gibson, 26, was charged with making a false report or threat of terrorism after he allegedly threatened to shoot people at an outdoor party in Holly, according to the Detroit News. Authorities said Gibson threatened to shoot people at a live music event while reaching into his backpack, and police who responded found a knife and several containers of alcohol inside it when they arrested him.

It remains unclear whether Braham has entered a plea or whether the search of the Darramoor Road residence turned up any additional evidence. For now, the case against him stands as an allegation, with the next steps playing out in 48th District Court.
