A three-day law enforcement sweep across Northern and Central California has resulted in 146 arrests, the seizure of 3,286 pounds of narcotics and 18,542 pills, and the recovery of 43 weapons and $338,222 in cash. Authorities say the operation, dubbed Central Valley Blues, targeted illicit drug trafficking, illegal weapons and related violent crime spanning 14 counties.

A Sprawling, Multi-Agency Crackdown

According to ABC10, the operation brought together 38 law enforcement agencies and lasted three days during the week of October 6. The effort was led by the DEA San Francisco Field Division, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of California, the FBI Sacramento Field Office and the Central Valley California HIDTA Task Force, with the social media company Meta also named as a leading partner. The outlet's report describes the operation as bringing together federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and private-sector partners.

Investigators say participating agencies had been working since July on leads, and the operation specifically addressed online platforms used to advertise and distribute illegal drugs. The station's report notes that Facebook and Instagram provided voluntary referrals as part of that effort. Central Valley Blues, per the same account, built on the earlier Operation Folsom Blues, which was started by the Folsom Police Department.

What Agents Took Off the Streets

The seizure list spanned a wide range of substances. Agencies reported taking in roughly 3,184 pounds 15.4 ounces of cannabis, 91 pounds 13.1 ounces of methamphetamine, 7 pounds 12.3 ounces of cocaine, 1 pound 3.2 ounces of psilocybin, and 6.2 ounces of fentanyl along with 16,136 fentanyl pills. GHB, BHO, heroin, MDMA and ketamine were also among the drugs recovered, the report states. In total, officials counted 232 charges stemming from the operation's 146 arrests.

El Dorado County's Local Tally

In El Dorado County, the Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney's Office both joined the three-day operation across 14 counties in Northern and Central California. Local authorities there reported 14 arrests and the seizure of about 1.88 pounds of methamphetamine, 34.3 grams of fentanyl and three firearms. Agencies in the county also logged 11 law enforcement reports, recovered 11 methamphetamine pipes, and documented one DUI-related incident, one reckless driving incident and one felony warrant, according to the same ABC10 account.

How It Compares to Recent California Busts

Central Valley Blues is one of several multi-agency drug operations across California. Last year, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office announced 51 felony arrests from Operation Folsom Blues 2.0, after undercover agents arranged narcotics transactions across Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer and Yolo counties, seizing 7.76 ounces of fentanyl and 1,125 M30 fentanyl pills. A follow-up sweep, Operation Folsom Blues 3.0, reportedly resulted in 26 arrests and the recovery of 10 guns in El Dorado County, according to South Tahoe Now, with CBS Sacramento reporting that haul included about 157 grams of methamphetamine, 11 grams of fentanyl and 14 grams of cocaine.

Other recent California drug busts have focused on production rather than street-level sales. A Calaveras County operation seized approximately 1,500 pounds of finished methamphetamine along with an estimated 1,270 pounds of suspected partially processed methamphetamine, 1,900 growing marijuana plants and 12 firearms, the Calaveras Enterprise reported. Separately, a DEA-led investigation into a Central Valley methamphetamine lab resulted in five arrests and the seizure of 574 pounds of methamphetamine plus 1,567 pounds of methamphetamine in solution, according to NBC Bay Area.
