A minor was taken from the scene for medical treatment after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Fiske Road and State Road in Coldwater Township on Friday, October 9. Branch County Sheriff's deputies say the collision involved a southbound 2010 Honda Odyssey and an eastbound 1999 Ford Ranger, and the initial investigation points to the Honda driver stopping at a stop sign but then failing to yield as the cause.
Deputies Detail How the Crash Unfolded
According to WTVB, Branch County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the two-vehicle personal-injury crash that happened in Coldwater Township on October 9. The outlet reports that 34-year-old Jacob Woodman of Coldwater was driving the southbound Odyssey on Fiske Road and had stopped at the intersection's stop sign, while 20-year-old Grayson Laney of Quincy was behind the wheel of the eastbound Ford Ranger. Per the initial investigation, Woodman failed to yield the right-of-way to Laney's truck, leading to the collision.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the Fiske Road and State Road intersection following the crash, the station's report notes. A minor child was transported from the scene for medical attention for injuries suffered in the collision, though further details about the child's condition were not included in the report.
A Separate Crash Report Raises Questions
A separate account published by wtvbam.com describes a different crash at the very same Coldwater Township intersection, State Road and Fiske Road, which occurred at approximately 4:25 p.m. That report identifies the vehicles involved as an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Spark and a westbound 2016 Jeep Cherokee, saying the Spark, driven by a 28-year-old Coldwater woman, attempted a left-hand turn and pulled into the path of the Jeep, operated by a 59-year-old Coldwater woman.
In that account, the 28-year-old Spark driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being transported by family members for further medical evaluation, while the Jeep driver did not require hospital transport. It remains unclear whether this is the same incident described in the October 9 report involving Woodman and Laney, or an entirely separate crash at the same intersection, as the vehicles, drivers, and injury details do not match between the two accounts.
The earlier report also notes that sheriff's deputies were assisted at the scene by the Coldwater Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance, Michigan State Police, Branch County Central Dispatch, and VIP Towing and Recovery. No similar list of responding agencies was included in the account of the October 9 crash involving Woodman and Laney.
