Dallas police are asking the public to help identify three men caught on surveillance video in a shootout at a South Dallas convenience store that reportedly came within inches of striking a 1-year-old child. The gunfire broke out just after 1 a.m. on October 11 at Little World convenience store in the 4,600 block of Malcolm X Boulevard.
According to FOX 4, two men walked into the store first, followed a few minutes later by a third man. Detective Michael Bui told the station that the third man produced a handgun, then the first two men pulled out a rifle and began shooting at each other, turning the encounter into a three-way gun battle inside the store. FOX 4's report states that an innocent customer was injured in the crossfire and that bullets nearly struck a 1-year-old baby who was inside at the time, missing the child by inches, according to Bui.
A June 22, 2020, account from NBC 5 describes a separate shooting at the same Little World store in which two people were shot in the parking lot outside the business, with officers responding at approximately 1:30 a.m. and both victims reported in stable condition.
Detective Describes a Chaotic Scene
Per Bui, the shooting could have had many more victims given how many bullets were exchanged in a confined space with customers present. He said the baby was nearly killed for no apparent reason, underscoring how close the encounter came to a far more tragic outcome. The customer caught in the crossfire survived, though further details on that person's condition were not available.
The three suspects are described as young men in their 20s, roughly 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 160 pounds, based on the surveillance footage reviewed by investigators. Beyond those general descriptions, police have not released names, photos from the video, or any information about arrests or charges in the case.
How to Help Investigators
Bui is asking anyone who recognizes the three men, or anyone who was inside the store during the shooting, to come forward. Dallas police ask that tipsters call 214-671-3538 or email [email protected] with information that could help identify the suspects or other witnesses.
No arrests have been announced, and the case remains unsolved as detectives continue working to track down the three men seen on the store's camera system.
