A 49-year-old man has been sentenced to 99 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an investigation by the Miami Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, officials say. Jason Brown must also register as a Tier II sex offender every 180 days for 25 years once he completes his term.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Brown was sentenced to 99 months, which the office calculated as roughly 8.25 years, following the task force's investigation into his case. As reported by WHIO, Brown pleaded guilty to 15 counts of pandering sexually oriented materials involving minors. Not every outlet landed on the same framing of the sentence length: WDTN described Brown's term simply as eight years behind bars, while the sheriff's office and WHIO both cited the more precise 99-month, 8.25-year figure.
Guilty Pleas Span Weapons and Drug Charges Too
Brown's plea also covered four counts of having weapons while under disability, per the same WHIO report. He additionally pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated possession of drugs. WHIO's account listed a separate count of possession of drugs as well, though a report from Dayton247Now, which noted Brown was arrested on December 18, 2025, cited only the aggravated possession count without listing a distinct standalone drug possession charge.
Under the Ohio Revised Code's weapons-under-disability statute, a violation like the one Brown pleaded to is classified as a felony of the third degree. Beyond his prison term, Brown will serve five years of mandatory post-release control once he is released, the sheriff's office said.
Sheriff Ties Case to Broader Task Force Mission
Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck said the case reflects the ongoing work of investigators pursuing these kinds of crimes. “The case underscores ongoing efforts to investigate these crimes and hold offenders accountable,” Streck said, according to the sheriff's office. He added that protecting children and pursuing those who exploit them remains a priority for the sheriff's office and its task force partners.
The Miami Valley Human Trafficking Task Force describes itself as a collaborative effort comprising multiple agencies, including the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, Butler Township Police Department, Oakwood Public Safety Department, and Homeland Security Investigations. The task force says its mission is to identify, investigate, and dismantle human trafficking operations while supporting survivors.
Task Force Reported Dozens of Victims Helped Last Year
The task force's reach extends well beyond this single case. In 2025, the group reported rescuing, interviewing, or referring 72 victims to services, according to Spectrum News 1. The same report noted the task force also provided human-trafficking awareness training to 1,400 people across the area that year.
Earlier this year, the task force's work led to a separate operation in Montgomery County that resulted in 14 arrests, as reported by WHIO. That effort, called Operation “Out of Bounds,” targeted people seeking to engage in prostitution and the solicitation of minors, with arrests involving soliciting, importuning, possessing criminal tools, and grooming-related offenses. The task force says it continues to work with local, state, and federal partners to combat human trafficking and related offenses, and it asks anyone with information to report tips to 937-225-4357.
