Four people were caught on video throwing an explosive device at a house near the intersection of 10th and Maple streets in Henderson overnight, and the York County Sheriff’s Office is now asking the public to help track them down. No arrests have been announced, and investigators have not released descriptions of the suspects.
According to centralnebraskatoday.com, the four individuals were seen on video throwing the device at approximately 1:21 a.m. on Oct. 18. A separate report from klkntv.com put the time at around 1:30 a.m. that same morning, so the exact minute remains unsettled even as the broader timeline lines up. Either way, the footage captured a group acting in the middle of the night at a residential address in the small York County town.
The York County Sheriff’s Office, per WOWT, is looking for the group and wants to hear from anyone who recognizes them or has information about what happened. Klkntv.com reports the sheriff’s office is specifically asking for the public’s help identifying the four individuals seen in the video.
How to Reach Investigators
Anyone with information is asked to call the York County Sheriff’s Office at 402-362-4927, centralnebraskatoday.com reports. Tips can also go directly to Lt. Alex Hildebrand by email at [email protected], according to 1011now.com.
The sheriff’s office has not said whether anyone was hurt or whether the home was damaged, and the type of device used in the Henderson incident has not been described publicly.
A County With Recent Explosive Device Cases
This is not the first time this year that York County has dealt with suspected homemade explosives. In June, two men were charged after separate traffic stops led deputies to discover suspected homemade explosive devices, according to a report from wowt.com. On June 19, deputies stopped James Winter near Highway 81 and Road 22 after radar showed his motorcycle going 82 mph in a 65 mph zone, and they said they found a suspected device under his motorcycle seat described as a capped cylindrical tube six to seven inches long with a protruding wick. Winter was charged with possession of a destructive device along with weapons and traffic offenses, the outlet reported.
Two days later, on June 21, deputies stopped a white Dodge Ram driven by Troy E. Pfeil about six miles west of York after the truck drove onto the shoulder while turning onto Highway 34. The same wowt.com report says deputies found a 4-inch PVC pipe bomb in the center console, and Pfeil was charged with possession of a destructive device along with several weapons and traffic offenses. The sheriff’s office said the Nebraska State Patrol bomb squad helped safely handle and dispose of both suspected devices, which officials said no longer posed a public threat once recovered.
Those June cases were unrelated traffic-stop discoveries rather than an attack on a residence, but they show the county has handled more than one explosive-device matter this year. Investigators have not said whether the Henderson incident is connected to those earlier cases.
