A new rooftop restaurant modeled on the Italian Riviera is set to open on October 14 at the Sanctuary Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, opening on the rooftop at 132 West 47th Street and bringing Mediterranean-inspired dishes, skyline views, and lemon-accented decor to a stretch of blocks between Times Square and Rockefeller Center.

Impulsive Group, a boutique hospitality company, includes the Sanctuary Hotel and Lola's On The Water at the Sands Harbor Resort & Marina in Pompano Beach in its portfolio, according to Indeed. Visit Lauderdale describes Lola's On The Water as a waterfront restaurant at the resort.

WhatNow reports that Lola's Rooftop occupies the rooftop of the Sanctuary Hotel and will serve Mediterranean-inspired dishes and cocktails with views of the Manhattan skyline. The menu leans on fresh seafood and premium meats with classic dishes carrying Mediterranean influences, including tuna crudo with avocado, Korean short ribs with Faroe risotto, and a blackened or grilled mahi sandwich, the outlet reports. The beverage program features classic cocktails, spritzes, and signature drinks.

A Decade-Old Lounge Gives Way to a New Concept

The rooftop space has history: Haven Rooftop, a French-and-American lounge and restaurant, opened in June 2012. The venue was known for glass-enclosed cabanas and year-round skyline lounge dining, according to TimesSquareNYC.org.

The building itself predates both restaurants by more than a century. It was built in 1904, per HRS, and was known as the Hotel Portland before later becoming the Hotel Felix Portland. It underwent a complete renovation in 2011 and is now the 113-room boutique Sanctuary Hotel, per HRS. The hotel sits just off Times Square near Broadway theaters and Rockefeller Center, placing the new rooftop in one of Midtown's busiest tourist corridors.

Specific Dishes Headline the Menu

Among the signature plates prepared for the Manhattan debut is Snapper Marechiara, which combines red snapper, shrimp, white wine, basil, and garlic served with scalloped potatoes, along with grilled octopus finished with pepper sauce and chorizo vinaigrette, according to the Great Bites newsletter, which highlights lunch and dinner service. The Pompano Beach original, Lola's On The Water at 125 N. Riverside Drive, offers waterfront patio seating with views of passing boats.

Lola's Rooftop will keep extended hours to accommodate Midtown's theater and office crowds. The restaurant plans to open Monday through Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., with Saturday hours running 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday hours set for 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Built to Survive a New York Winter

Unlike some seasonal rooftop bars, Lola's Rooftop is designed to stay open through the cold months. The venue incorporates an enclosed, climate-controlled area alongside open-air seating decorated with yellow-and-white striped tents, lemon accents, and greenery, allowing it to avoid the seasonal closures that affect many Manhattan rooftop venues, per the same WhatNow report.

The new restaurant also slots into a larger in-house dining ecosystem at the Sanctuary Hotel, which already includes the garden terrace omakase restaurant Sushi Lab, the Chemistry Room, and Sushi by Bou, a speakeasy-style venue, according to Sanctuary Hotel New York. That mix positions the hotel as a multi-venue dining destination rather than a single-restaurant property.

A Presence in New York and South Florida

Impulsive Group's portfolio includes the Sanctuary Hotel in Manhattan and Sands Harbor Resort & Marina in Pompano Beach, home to Lola's On The Water.
