A masked suspect walked into the Pearle Vision near 144th and Maple late on October 10 and walked out with $14,280 worth of designer sunglasses, and Omaha police now need the public's help putting a name to the face caught staring straight into the store's security camera.
Police say the suspect targeted high-end brands including Prada, Versace and Ray-Ban before fleeing the store, according to KETV. The theft happened around 9:30 p.m. that Saturday night, a timeline confirmed by the store manager, per the same report. Despite wearing a blue medical mask, the suspect looked directly toward the camera while entering the shop, giving investigators a clear view of his eyes.
Surveillance video also captured what appears to be the suspect's getaway vehicle, described as a tan or silver compact SUV. The Pearle Vision location sits at 3506 North 147th Street, Suite 104, in Omaha.
A Familiar Scene at the Same Store
This is not the first time the shop has been targeted. A similar crime was reported at the same Pearle Vision location on October 28, 2025, when a person wearing nearly identical clothing and the same style of blue medical mask made off with several designer sunglasses in a comparable manner, the station notes. In that incident, the store reported roughly $20,000 in stolen merchandise.
Between the two thefts, the store has now reported more than $34,000 in stolen eyewear over the course of a year. The two thefts involved more than $34,000 in reported stolen eyewear over roughly a year.
