Baltimore County police converged on an apartment building in Milford Mill Tuesday night after reports of shots fired turned into a barricade situation, with officers eventually deploying SWAT units before a man was taken into custody. Police say no victims were found and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
According to WBAL-TV, Woodlawn Precinct officers responded after reports of shots fired came in around 7:30 p.m. in the 7200 block of Chippenham Place. Police said a suspect fled into an apartment after officers arrived, prompting them to classify the scene as a barricade situation.
SWAT Called In, But Arrest Came First
Officers deployed SWAT units to the scene as the standoff unfolded, the outlet reported. Despite that show of force, a man was arrested before SWAT units actually arrived, bringing the situation to a close without further escalation.
Police reported no victims from the shots-fired call and said there was no continuing danger to residents in the area, according to the same report. Details about what prompted the initial gunfire, including the number of shots or any weapon recovered, have not been released.
Part of a Pattern of Barricade Calls in the County
Part of a Pattern of Barricade Calls in the County Tuesday's incident fits into a broader pattern of barricade situations Baltimore County police have handled over the past year. In December 2025, officers took a person into custody following a standoff at a Cockeysville apartment complex, as detailed by WBAL-TV. In May, the department resolved an hours-long barricade involving a person in crisis in Nottingham, according to CBS Baltimore; FOX Baltimore described the same incident as occurring in Perry Hall, with normal activity resuming soon after.
In August, officers also faced a barricade situation in Middle River while executing a search warrant at an apartment complex on Akin Circle, FOX Baltimore reported. None of those earlier cases are confirmed to be connected to Tuesday's events in Milford Mill, but together they show how often Baltimore County police have had to manage these standoffs across different neighborhoods over the past several months.
No further information on potential charges against the man arrested in Milford Mill has been released. The investigation into what led to the shots-fired call remains open.
