A City Tracking Its Homicide Numbers Closely
The death comes as Baltimore continues to see homicide totals trend below recent years. Killings in the city have fallen sharply since a historic decline that began in 2023, and the pace of both homicides and nonfatal shootings in 2026 has tracked close to 2025's levels, per the same reporting from The Baltimore Sun on the city's broader violence data.
City Hall has also pointed to improving numbers. A statement attributed to Mayor Brandon M. Scott cited a 15.3% drop in homicides through Sept. 30, putting the 2026 count at 83 compared with 98 over the same stretch a year earlier, as reported by Baltimore City.
The Baltimore Sun maintains a database tracking homicides reported by the Baltimore Police Department dating back to 2007, including a map and searchable records of killings citywide.
A Note on District-Level Data
The Baltimore Police Department cautions that data on Open Baltimore are preliminary and subject to change.
