A 27-year-old Westerville man has pleaded guilty to five federal charges after prosecutors said he ran a sextortion campaign against minors he contacted through TikTok and Snapchat, with court filings describing threats to expose explicit images and harm victims and their families. Christian N. Davidson now faces a recommended sentence of 25 to 40 years in prison under his plea agreement, though a judge will ultimately decide his fate.

Davidson pleaded guilty to two counts of transmitting interstate communications with intent to extort, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and one count of possession of child pornography, according to the Scioto Valley Guardian. The outlet reported that prosecutors said Davidson carried out a sextortion campaign in 2024 and 2025 that targeted multiple minor victims, building his approach on tactics he had allegedly used years earlier. The plea was entered in federal court in Columbus, per 10TV, which covers the case out of its local newsroom.

A TikTok Video Call Turns Into a Threat Campaign

Court documents described one encounter in August 2024, when Davidson added a minor victim on TikTok, according to the same report. He coerced her into a video call and captured explicit screenshots during it, the outlet noted, and when the victim refused to meet further demands, Davidson created TikTok accounts using her name and the sexual images he had captured.

That was not the only victim named in the case. The report also described an earlier scheme in 2018 and 2019, when Davidson attempted to extort a different victim he had added on Snapchat, demanding explicit images and, at one point, leg pictures in exchange for backing off. When that victim blocked him, the account noted, Davidson created new accounts to keep harassing her, folding details of her personal life into the messages he sent.

Arrest Came a Year After the Alleged Conduct

Davidson was arrested and charged by criminal complaint in October 2025, roughly a year after the TikTok-related conduct described in the case, per the same report. His guilty plea this week resolves the federal charges, though his ultimate sentence still rests with the court. The plea agreement's recommended range of 25 to 40 years in prison was negotiated between Davidson's defense and federal prosecutors, the Guardian reported, but it is the presiding judge who will set the final term.

The case falls under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative the U.S. Department of Justice launched in May 2006 to combat what it describes as a growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Federal prosecutors have increasingly folded sextortion cases into that framework as reports of the crime have climbed nationally. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children said its CyberTipline received more than 186,800 reports of online enticement in 2023 alone, a category that includes sextortion.

Davidson's sentencing date had not been set as of this week's plea, and no further detail on his sentencing hearing has been made public. The case remains under the jurisdiction of the federal court in Ohio's Southern District.
