A search warrant served at a home on Velma Road in Amite turned up multiple firearms, dozens of vapes and THC cartridges, and bags of suspected MDMA, cocaine and marijuana, leading to the arrests of two people on Oct. 23. Javorius Jones, 23, and Allisha Baker, 24, were both inside the residence when investigators moved in, and Jones alone walked away facing more than a dozen separate charges.

The search warrant stemmed from a multiagency investigation into stolen vehicles, according to WDSU, which reported that Tangipahoa Parish deputies carried out the operation in collaboration with Baton Rouge Police, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office and Louisiana State Police. The outlet described the focus of the raid as recovering stolen cars, guns and drugs, with the search conducted throughout the residence. Deputies reported finding drug paraphernalia and materials associated with distribution inside the home, according to a Crime Stoppers social media post cited among the case details.

Jones Booked on 13 Separate Counts

Jones was booked on a sweeping list of charges tied to both the drug and weapons findings and the underlying stolen vehicle case. Those counts include two charges of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I narcotic, one count of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II narcotic, and one count of felon in possession of a firearm, per the Crime Stoppers post. He also faces one count of possession of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, one count of sale, distribution or possession of a legend drug without a prescription, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The auto-theft portion of the investigation added still more charges against Jones: one count of resisting an officer, counts of alteration or removal of vehicle identification numbers, filing a false affidavit to support an alleged auto theft, injuring public records, insurance fraud, and obstruction of justice through evidence tampering. He was also booked on battery of a dating partner, according to the same Crime Stoppers post.

Baker Faces Separate Drug Counts

Baker, identified as Jones's girlfriend by WDSU, was booked on three charges of her own: one count of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I narcotic, one count of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II narcotic, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Both the stolen vehicle investigation and the drug and weapons investigations remain ongoing, per the Crime Stoppers post and WDSU's reporting.

The Amite case fits a pattern of recent Tangipahoa Parish raids that have paired firearms with narcotics. In late August, a parole-violation arrest of 28-year-old Anthony Thomas led investigators to open a larger investigation and search a Hammond-area home, where officers said they recovered three pistols, three AR-style pistols, ammunition, gun accessories, marijuana and prescription pills that were not legally obtained, according to WAFB.

A separate raid at a Kentwood home within 2,000 feet of a school led to two arrests on drug charges, with deputies reporting almost 300 grams of suspected illegal narcotics — including fentanyl, meth, cocaine, marijuana and MOJO — along with two rifles and a handgun, two of which were loaded, and cash hidden in a cigar box, according to WBRZ.
