In February 2025, a pedestrian accident closed the northbound lanes of Route 28 near Etna for several hours and left one person dead, as reported by CBS Pittsburgh. And in October 2024, a man died in a single-vehicle crash on Route 28 in Etna, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which cited the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.
