We've got Muni on the brain this week. But how can you not when the buses are sporting their new 100th anniversary stickers that say "The People's System?"

Have you walked by the Church/Duboce intersection lately? They've been tearing it up almost every weekend for the past few months. Well 48 hours isn't enough time anymore, so they're shutting things down for almost two weeks. Beginning at 7pm on Friday, May 25, and ending at 5am on Monday, June 4, many lines will either be shut down or severely altered. According to SFMTA press release, here's a list of what's changing: -The N Judah will be shutdown with substitute bus service provided from Ocean Beach to Van Ness Avenue -The bus service will vary between weekdays and weekends -Nx service unchanged -J Church Line to operate between Balboa Park and Market/Church streets -Major reroute of the 22 Fillmore -Other minor reroutes of 37 Corbett, 43 Masonic and N Owl service -Residents, merchants and Muni customers can also expect street and bike lane closures and detours during the construction -Bike detours will be in place for the Wiggle, the Steiner/Sanchez route and the connector route between the Wiggle and Market Street -Parking restrictions will be in effect -Traffic control officers and police officers will direct traffic at critical intersections -Noise and dust will be controlled in adherence with city codes -Electronic messaging boards will be used in affected areas to alert motorists and cyclists of detours How does this affect Hayes Valley? 1) For those on the south/southwestern side who opt to grab the N before the tunnel, you may want to consider the 6, 71, F or walking to Van Ness instead 2) We're not sure the new route for the 22, but it could be a few blocks farther than you're used to 3) If you grab the J to head to Safeway before walking back home, that won't be an option 4) If you ride a bike, be careful of your new route and be even more careful of all drivers who are twice as confused And a special note to N-Judah riders: For the past few months during construction weekends, they've had riders get off at the Church Station and catch a bus in front of Blackbird. It sounds like they may change it up and have people exit at Van Ness and run direct service to the Sunset from there. If you ride the Muni Metro, keep a look out for signs with further instructions.
