Lower Haight Leftovers: Melting Olympic Torches Edition
Toronado celebrates a milestone, the Wiggle gets some press, improv hits Alamo Square and Mirkarimi makes an appearance. All that, plus Art Walk updates and more, in today's leftovers.

Tonight, of course, it's the Lower Haight Art Walk. In addition to all the events and deals we previewed a few days ago, here are some newcomers: Three DJs -- Lil' Elle, White Mike & Loco -- will be spinning in front of 622 Haight Street. From 6pm to 10pm, Nectar (663 Haight) will be hosting a meet and greet with artist Romanowski, who designed much of Nectar's interior as well as its distinctive sign. And in an Art Walk first, the brewtruc will be looping the neighborhood, inviting you to "hop on and get your hops on." For $8, enjoy a half-hour tour of the neighborhood, and sample beers like Ale Industries' Rye'd Piper and Uncle Jesse's Pale, Social Kitchen Porter, Franziskaner Hefeweizen, and Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout -- all on tap, of course. If one tour isn't enough, hop back on for another half hour for only $5. Boarding locations will include Nickies and Danny Coyle's.
Tomorrow, celebrate the grand opening of Wild Feather, a new boutique at 593 Haight Street. That's the former home of Black Pancake Records, which relocated to 597 Haight Street shortly after Lower Haters closed in April. Tomorrow's opening will feature discounts, DJs, and designer duds aplenty. That's at Wild Feather, 593 Haight Street, from noon until 6pm.
On Sunday, an improv troop called Elemental Improv will be holding a free show for the public in Alamo Square. The show begins at 1pm on the Painted Ladies side of the park, and they suggest you bring your own chair. And if you decide you want to join the fun, ask them about their weekly open workouts.
Toronado has a big birthday coming up -- 25 years in the neighborhood. To celebrate, they're having a pre-release dinner on Tuesday night to celebrate Russian River's T25 brew, providing "a unique opportunity to try the 6 component beers of the T25 as well as the final blend on draft prior to its release." The beers will be paired with a tasting menu from Homebrew chef Sean Paxton. Tickets ($100) are extremely limited, so click on thru for details if you're interested.
The New York Times has an article about The Wiggle this week, from the perspective of a bicyclist riding it for the first time. Worth a read.
Wondering what's happening with the restaurant space at the intersection of Church/14th/Market, formerly home to Home? Wonder no longer! Grub Street reports that the space has been snapped up by none other than Chipotle, which aims to open its tenth San Francisco location at the address some time in "early to mid-2013."
Reader Swift Nudges (!) sent in this photo of former District 5 Supervisor and currently-suspended San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi giving an interview outside the Vapor Room on Tuesday. That, of course, was the day the Vapor Room was forced to close by the Department of Justice.

Finally, while we're talking about the Vapor Room, 607A Haight Street is now officially on the market. Asking price: $5600 a month.
That's all we've got! If we missed anything, you know what to do. tips [at] haighteration {{dot}} com.
