We've got lots of Lower Haighters in the news this week, plus a Vapor Room update, a plea for a masked vigilante, and more. It's gotta be Lower Haight Leftovers, and it starts.............. now!

Tonight, DSF hosts American Tripps's Berlin-Style Ping Pong Halloween Bash. You know what that means: the usual ping pong, DJs, and drinks, but with "prizes for awesome costumes." That's 8pm to 1am at DSF, 520 Haight Street.
Did you miss last weekend's Urban Air Market? A blogger named Kevin Warnock interviewed 10 different vendors at the event. Give it a read.
Lawyers.com -- yes, Lawyers.com -- recently posted a profile of the Vapor Room, the Lower Haight medical cannabis dispensary which closed in July. In the article, owner Martin Olive shares details about threatening letters his landlord received from the US Attorney, and why it's unlikely the Vapor Room will find a new space any time soon.
Speaking of new spaces, a new boutique, Onyx, will officially be opening at 289 Divisadero this weekend. That's the former home of Swankety Swank, which closed in April.
On Monday, SFGate ran a profile of Chuck Nicklow, the manager of Costumes on Haight. Chuck shares his thoughts on popular Halloween costumes, Burning Man, drag kings, and why he won't be dressing up this (or any) year.
In other Lower Haighter-in-the-news news, if you've had the pleasure of watching live television lately, you may have seen this political ad. The ad is in support of Prop E, a payroll tax measure on this year's ballot. The reason we care: Pierre Pegeron from Lo-Cost Meats is in it.
How about a third local in the headlines? The Bold Italic posted an interview this week with Lower Haighter Dan Jackson. The Q&A is Giants-focused (Dan's a big fan and works a block from AT&T Park), but does include a shout-out to Nickies, Dan's preferred destination for watching the World Series.
Finally, does the Lower Haight need a masked vigilante? According to a recent Craigslist post, the answer is yes. (The Craigslist post has since been flagged, but SFist has the gist.)
