There's something magical about the twinkling lights of a holiday display that brings out the kid in everyone of I've ever met. Multi-colored bulbs nestled amongst decorations and vines of pine mounted on roofs, ledges and displayed in huge, Victorian, front windows. The sparkle of a Christmas tree placed perfectly so or the unconscious 'oohs' and 'awws' you hear when discovering a spectacular light display-it's hard for even the most hum buggiest  to resist smiling at the sight. The Castro is chock full of these fleeting works of wonder. Here are a few pix of the two that made me wide eyed with awe this year from around the hood. Feel free to send us your favorites finds or post them to Castro Biscuit's Flickr page. We know there's a lot more out there just waiting to be discovered.

Greeting you as you drive down Castro, atop the hill, before you reach Market Street you'll find this brilliant display.

The star atop the tree this year is this fantastic holiday offering on Castro Street between Duboce and 14th Street. It a great way to be greeted as you come from the Western Addition or Haight into the 'Stro-a shimmering homage of color and that unmistakably, definitive, classic beauty of unique Castro, style.

A view from the curb of the three stories of holiday glamor covering this large, circa 1920 home, on Castro Street: 6' foot light up Santa, hundreds of ornaments, bells upon golden bells.  thousands of feet of garland, lights, and bows. Sprinkle with pine cones, stockings, and good cheer.

Overlooking the Castro, atop the 21st Street hill, nestled in front of a picture perfect, ginger bread, Victorian, you'll find this neighborhood version of Winter Wonderland, It's complete with a ginormous Christmas tree whose boughs drip with decorations, massive stockings stuffed to the brim, toys the size of Macy's parade floats, thousands of lights, admiring crowds and-sometimes if you're lucky-St. Nick himself wanders around greeting children and children at heart alike. Truly a bit of elven magic constructing this holiday display and one that's appreciated by every person who wanders by. And just in case you missed seeing Ol' Saint Nick up on 21st street here are a couple pix of some of the ho-ho-ho's seen on Christmas Eve galavanting around our neighborhood.

It's not Christmas in the Castro without the SF Gay Men's Chorus holiday concert held at the Castro theatre. Here are four members of the chorus pre-sold out show-greeting kids and adults alike on the street. We hope you have a great holiday and look forward to seeing what fun 2013 for everyone who get to call Castro home.
