Chipotle has been working hard to win over residents from the Castro for their planned Church and Market location at the old Home Restaurant. The building has been sitting empty for quite some time now, but Chipotle (or their public relations firm Berg Davis Public Affairs) has managed to not only bribe residents for a signature on a petition to bring the restaurant to the Castro, but also bribe the property owner to place adverts in the windows of the former restaurant touting their sustainability, the jobs they'll bring to the area, and an email address where people can voice their support (or disdain).

No worries that there is already two taquerias around the corner. No worries that a petition is going around to block their planned facility. No worries that some Castro residents would rather see the Castro business plan match the Valencia corridor instead of the Westfield Mall. Chipotle is going balls in, even pushing adverts in the Church Muni station and throwing a cultural music/food fest in Golden Gate Park. On the public notice posted on the north and south sides of the building someone not happy with the idea of Chipotle moving in scrawled "BULLSHIT!!!" at the top of the notice. If you're interested in voicing your opinion for or against Chipotle's entrance to the Castro, the deal is not sealed yet! The Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association will be meeting with Chipotle reps at their general meeting on Monday, June 10th at 7:30PM at Davies Medical Center (map). The DTNA holds sway with officials at City Hall and with the Planning Commission and a well formulated plan presented to the DTNA could make or break the deal. The final say, however, rests in the Planning Commission's hands. They will be hearing Chipotle's proposal on June 20th.
