Got a case of the red white and blues? Don't let your post-holiday glow wear off any time soon. We've got some local events to help you celebrate through Sunday and beyond.
Tonight at 6pm, swing by Rare Device for the opening of "Interdependence," a new show by California artist Julia Lucey. Lucey's collection of etchings and aquatints centers on a theme of North American wildlife and the connectedness of the natural world. The reception runs from 6pm to 8pm at Rare Device, 600 Divisadero.
Also tonight, D-Structure hosts "Floating City," a collection of works by various artists exploring "the idea of San Francisco as a kind of utopia of art, culture and community." It's a D-Structure First Friday event, so you can likely expect drinks and tunes, plus limited edition t-shirts for sale. That's 7pm to 11pm tonight at D-Structure, 520 Haight.
Also tonight, it's a pretty special event at Underground SF: the return of weekly event Bionic. Longtime Lower Haighters might remember Bionic from its Sunday night stints at The Top, the previous incarnation of Underground SF, back in the late '90s and early '00s. Since then, Bionic has bounced around to various clubs around the city, but tonight it returns home. Expect techno music from resident DJs and special guests alike from 9pm to 2am, and a $5 cover at the door.
Tomorrow night, head to Edo Salon for the opening of a new art show called "FULL CIRCLE." Curated by an organization called Creativity Explored, which provides developmentally disabled artists with the means to pursue their talents, the show will feature paintings, drawings, and sculptures based on the form of the circle. Stop by the opening, and enjoy music and drinks, from 7pm to 10pm tomorrow (Saturday) at Edo, 601 Haight.
Then, make your way back over to Underground SF for the monthly DJ showcase that is Push the Feeling. Yes, PTF is moving to Saturdays starting tomorrow, but the structure remains the same: residents YR SKULL and epicsauce DJs will be joined by a few special guests for a night of funky and fun dance tunes. Tomorrow's edition features LA-based disco master Wolfy and a live set by local duo Bruse. The event at 424 Haight starts at 9pm, is free before 10pm, and runs $6 thereafter. 21+, of course.
Did we miss something? Let us know in the comments. Otherwise, have a swell weekend.
