On average, San Francisco gets just .19 inches of rain in September. That makes it a pretty safe month to schedule an outdoor event. Unfortunately, yesterday we got a fluke .38 inches, which soaked the neighborhood right as the annual Duboce Park Tag Sale was hitting its stride.

Doug Woo, President of Friends of Duboce Park (the group that organizes the event), tells us that they had to end the event a couple of hours early. "Most of the clothing and books were ruined," Doug says, and by noon organizers "were basically giving stuff away or asking for any donation." The tag sale serves as a fundraiser for the group, with proceeds going toward park improvements. So, the early end to yesterday's event was particularly disappointing. They did manage to salvage most of the bigger-ticket items, which they'll be selling on Craigslist. And they'll be accepting direct donations as well; if you're so inclined, you can send a check to: Friends of Duboce Park 79 Scott Street San Francisco, CA 94117
