Benefits Planned For Artist Attacked in Lower HaightSecret Serpents
A well-known poster artist was reportedly attacked in the Lower Haight last month, and now his friends are stepping up to help him recover.

According to his website, artist Alan Forbes was attacked somewhere in the neighborhood on Monday, October 21st. He was left with two skull fractures and damage to his right eye. We don't have any other information about the attack at this time. Forbes is known for his psychedelic rock'n'roll posters, having designed artwork for the Black Crowes, Queens of the Stone Age, Faith No More, Mudhoney, and more. Forbes doesn't have health insurance, so to help him cover his medical costs, his friends are organizing two benefit concerts. The first will be December 7th at The Make Out Room (22nd and Mission), headlined by Jello Biafra from the Dead Kennedys, and the second will be January 4th at Bottom of the Hill (17th and Missouri). Along with the various bands, both shows will feature silent auctions of art and other items donated by dozens of contributors. For more info, check out Forbes's website.
