Lower Haight Leftovers: 11/1 Edition
It's a new month, friends. Don't start it off with ignorance. Here are a bunch of news nuggets for your perusal, starting with some upcoming events.

Tonight, DSF (520 Haight) hosts a First Friday event featuring new works by artist Lindsey Millikan. Lindsey tells us her paintings are all based on interpretations of animal and human skulls. The opening reception runs from 8pm to midnight. On Saturday, Glass Key Photo (442 Haight) is throwing a sidewalk camera swap meet thing! If you need dark room paper and chemistry, or have an old camera you'd like to buy or sell, get yourself down to the 400 block of Haight between 11am and 3:30pm. And while you're there, head next door to Wing Wings (422 Haight) between noon and 4pm. There, Three Twins Ice Cream will be on hand, selling $5 pints of their "Sergio Romo's Mexican Chocolate" flavor, and $3 "ooops" pints (which are overfilled, underfilled, or mislabeled). Heck, you might as well just stay on the 400 block all day Saturday, because Push the Feeling returns to Underground SF (424 Haight) for a night of dance beats from 9pm to 2am. Tomorrow night's DJs are Larry Gus and Panavision, plus residents epicsauce DJs and YR SKULL as usual. It's 21+, free before 10pm with RSVP, and $6 otherwise. So, those are your weekend highlights. In other news... This week, Eater ran an interview with Maven's Kate Bolton as part of a series profiling female bartenders in San Francisco. Bolton talks about her favorite and least favorite drinks, and current trends in the local bar scene. Meanwhile, Tablehopper reports that Matt Nudelman, who until recently was manning the kitchen at Greenburger's, is now designing the menu at an upcoming British pub in the Mission called Carsons. Remember Writing Without Walls, the monthly reading series at Cafe du Soleil that we told you about last month? Well, they're currently seeking submissions for their November event. The theme is "gratitude," and the deadline for submissions is this Monday at midnight. And finally, fans of the Pierce Street vintage shop Bluebird, which closed in 2009, will be happy to learn that its owner Stephanie Scarpulla has reemerged with an online version of her shop on Etsy. It's called Sis Vintage, and Stephanie expects to update it weekly. Happy November, turkeys.
