Want A Tree? You're In Luck
Fact: our urban landscape is better with trees.

(If you disagree, see here, here, here, and here—you'll never take our trees for granted again.)

This Spring, Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) plans to add even more vegetation to the local mix.

As part of the greater Market Octavia Plan, FUF is looking for property owners in the area bounded by Divisadero, Octavia Van Ness, Geary and Market who want to have trees installed on the sidewalks outside their buildings.

If you're interested, all you have to do is fill out this form and pick your preferred tree species. There are dozens to choose from, or FUF can recommend a species if you prefer.

Just submit your form online by Friday, April 2nd. Then, assuming your application is approved, FUF will bill you $100 (they subsidize about 75% of the costs, they say), and on Saturday, May 10th, they'll come by and plant your tree.  They'll even cut up the sidewalk if necessary. And if you're interested, you're fully encouraged to help plant your tree, too.

FUF is trying to get as many people signed up as possible, so if you know a homeowner in the area who might appreciate an almost-free new tree, spread the word.
