It's been a busy week, and we've got plenty of story leftovers to prove it, including weekend activities and goings-on around the neighborhood.
First on the agenda is tonight's Con Brio show at Rickshaw Stop, which promises to wrap up the week on a soulful note. To learn more about what to expect, check out SF Weekly's interview with the band, which is celebrating the release of the first single off its upcoming EP "Kiss the Sun". Tonight's show is "the culmination of a lot of work," said band member Micah Dubreuil, "and it’s going to be a good show."
If you're looking to get a little dirty tomorrow morning, head over to the Hayes Valley Playground at 10am for a community gardening day. Hosted by the Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association Greening Committee, the event will entail adding composted soil and mulch to the garden beds, plus getting to know some neighbors. The organizers are hoping for 25 volunteers, and work will take place from 10am to 1pm at the Hayes and Buchanan playground.
Also tomorrow is a Bon Appétit hosted "grub crawl" from 11am to 4:15pm. Kicking off at La Urbana (which, as you well know, lies a good shot west of Hayes Valley), the crawl will put you down $150 as you tour and taste the likes of Boxing Room, Nojo, Souvla, and Two Sisters.
Speaking of local restaurants, congratulations are in order at Rich Table, where co-owner Sarah Rich was named one of five winners of Food & Wine’s 2014 Best New Pastry Chefs and dubbed "a genius at transforming familiar American desserts." Well done, Sarah.
Moving on to the always hopping Hayes Valley boutique beat, SFGate notes that local shop Rand + Stadler has partnered with vintage marketplace What Goes Around Comes Around to offer some vintage Chanel accessories, so take note if you're into that sort of thing.
On Wednesday, November 12th, Convert Man will be crowning its "Man of the Year" with a celebration that will also double as a grand opening party (they opened in August). The winner will be announced at 8pm, and festivities should ensue.
In two additional installments of featherweight Hayes Valley news, meet a local food blogger and see why the Chronicle thinks Hayes Valley is an "incubator for the imagination."
And finally, here is a time lapse video of the Apex mural currently on display at Proxy.
Enjoy the weekend!
