Tonight, the highly active Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association (HVNA) will host its first gathering of the year with the January installment of its monthly public safety meetings. The meeting will be held at 7pm at the Korean American Center at 745 Buchanan St.

The agenda will be a broad overview of issues and plans pertaining to public safety in 2015, including updates from city departments on topics such as Proposition 47, which reduced many crimes from felonies to misdemeanors, and the new police redistricting plan, which will expand the area covered by Northern Station, among other updates.

The HVNA's next public safety meeting will be held on February 2nd, and Barnwell tells us that the theme will be how to deal with business crimes, including vandalism, shoplifting, and other issues.
As for the HVNA's regular monthly meetings, Barnwell tells us that this month's meeting may be more of a member-appreciation party, with business resuming next month in the form of HVNA board elections.
