Now that the weather has cleared up, here are a few weekend events that will get your blood moving again:

Saturday, January 3:

Fight Club SF

The first rule about Fight Club SF is probably that you should talk about it so people will know how seriously you take physical fitness. For $15, you can join a group at Kezar Stadium led by a professional boxer and learn the basics of what aficionados call the “sweet science.”

The class sounds pretty hardcore: the RSVP page cautions that this will be an intense workout. Sponsored by TiltFitSF and instructed by Jake R., FightClub SF will provide gloves and pads to attendees. RSVP on Eventbrite.

Fight Club SF,10:30 - 11:30 am, meet at Frederick & Willard Streets by "the gladiator coluumns" outside Kezar Stadium, $15.

Free Outdoor Yoga Day

For those who prefer “inverting, reverting and melting into the ground” over learning how to deliver a left hook, the Purusha Seva Project offers free yoga in Golden Gate Park.

At 11 am, attendees will gather near the “big tree in GGP off of 9th & Lincoln,” before heading to the large baseball field nearby for the yoga class. The gathering place is just one block from the N Judah and directly across from stops for the 71 and 44 Muni bus lines.

The class is free, but donations are encouraged: all funds go to to the Purusha Seva Project, a non-profit group that promotes yoga, health education and other programs to “at-risk and underserved populations who would greatly benefit from the philosophy and practices.”

Meet at 9th & Irving at11 am, then walk to the adjacent baseball field, donation suggested.

Sunday, January 4:

Lindy In The Park

If dancing is more your thing, swing by Lindy in the Park on Sunday to cut a rug or be an admiring spectator from 11 - 2 on JFK Drive in Golden Gate Park, between 8th and 10th Ave. First founded in 1996, the volunteer organizers of Lindy in the Park invite experts, amateurs, solos and couples to join them each Sunday (weather permitting) for dancing and a free beginner’s lesson at noon. Check their Facebook page to see if they've posted a cancellation notice, otherwise, it's a go.

11 am - 2 pm, Golden Gate Park, JFK Drive, between 8th & 9th Aves., free.
Walk a few hundred feet from Lindy in the Park to Skatin’ Place to time-travel from the 1940s to the 1970s, when dancing on roller-skates was just a thing regular folks did on the weekends. Skatin’ Place is reserved for four- and two-wheeled skaters 7 days a week, but on Sundays, large groups gather, a mobile DJ with a wireless mic plays the hits and groups skate singly and in tightly-synchronized groups: if you can, stick around for the weekly performance of “Thriller.”

Skatin' Place, noon - 5 pm, Golden Gate Park, 6th Ave. & Kennedy, free.

Blackthorn Pool Tournament

Feeling indoorsy (and maybe beersy)? Head to Blackthorn on Irving for their Sunday Pool Tournament that starts at 7 pm.

Hosted by Nomad Pool, this is a ranked tournament. To sign up, register with Nomad Social Pool League, then text “signup [username]/[password] to (321) 244-7665. For complete details, visit the event's Google Calendar page to RSVP.
