Thanksgiving is almost here and we can already begin smell some of the delicious food that will be on the table. Whether you're staying in the city or going to visit family or friends we hope you have a wonderful holiday.

If you're planning on staying in the neighborhood for the holiday you should know that Cafe Flore will be offering a $35 four course Thanksgiving Meal from 10am-9pm and The Cove will have a special Thanksgiving menu from 12pm-8pm.

If you're planning to do some Holiday shopping this weekend remember that Saturday is Small Business Saturday. Business all over the Castro and throughout the city will be taking part – you can search the clunky American Express-sponsored site using the 94114 zip code to see a set of local deals. One example: Sui Generis in the Castro will be having a small business weekend sale Friday through Sunday with sales of up to 50% off.

Hoodline will be taking the next couple days off so we can spend time with our family and friends. We'll be taking a look back at the week that was in the Castro earlier that usual.

Last weekend we covered the history of the Castro's Historic Landmark bar, Twin Peaks Tavern. Many people know the bar by a different name, the 'glass coffin.' It seems that there's a bit of disagreement among our commenters over where that name exactly came from – whether it was from the AIDS crisis of the 80s & 90s or just the fact that older gay men tend to patronize the bar, or even the decor.

Earlier this week we told you about the property owner on Sanchez St who's being sued by the city over multiple violations who's conduct, according to City Attorney Dennis Herrera,"endangers the health, welfare and safety of neighbors, and drains the City of resources to adequately patrol other parts of the City." Look for more details soon on that situation.

Coming up, World AIDS Day is next Tuesday December 1st and this year in the Castro long-time AIDS survivor George Kelly and his students from Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy will be honoring those lost to AIDS by walking through the Castro and writing their names in squares on the sidewalk.

After spending all that time at the dinner table on Thanksgiving eating way too much food you might want to get outside the next couple days for some exercise. Let's take a look at what's going on around the neighborhood to find some good activities to help you burn off a few of those extra calories.
