Got an event you want the neighborhood to know about? To be included in our next SoMa weekly roundup, please fill out the form at this link.
Holiday events have entered full-force mode in SoMa, so we've rounded up a bunch of festive weekend events for you to catch, whether you're trying to spot every twinkle light in the skyline or dance your mounting holiday stress away. But first, let's take a quick spin backwards through the week that was.
The biggest news in SoMa this week surrounds commuting. Commuters have been getting bused from outlying neighborhoods to their city-center offices via private bus service Chariot for a while, but the company's next initiative is a little more unusual: they'll be ferrying SoMa residents out to outlying neighborhoods as well. If you live in SoMa but work in the Marina, Haight, Richmond, or Wharf, check it out.
Meanwhile, the 'Caltrain Cluster' is finally getting addressed, with proposed designated rideshare pick-up and drop-off zones at Fourth and King.
One workplace you'll be glad isn't yours: the Hall of Justice, where non-incarcerated employees have been complaining of ceilings that drip urine, rats, roaches, and sewage-pipe bursts.
The Salesforce Tower still has a long way to go before it's complete, but CEO Marc Benioff shared a cool video of the first step: pouring the concrete.
Got $7,000/month to drop on rent? This luxe Infinity Towers two-bedroom could be your new home.
As for the proposed SoMa jail that would replace the HOJ's incarceration facilities, the Board of Supervisors vote on it has been bumped to next week, to give incoming District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin time to get up to speed on the issue. Also on tap for next week's meeting is the proposed bike yield law, which would affect cyclists citywide.
District 6's Jane Kim is one of the Supervisors leading the charge to examine the bill for the Super Bowl City festivities, which will affect SoMa and FiDi transit. What will it cost taxpayers? For the moment, no one knows.
Now, on to your weekend events:
