Who knew shopping carts could be so versatile? While ordinarily, they are used to carry groceries to the checkout section, these four-wheelers have been repurposed to serve food to hungry patrons.
It certainly beats renting out property in New York City – that’s for sure. After all, starting a small restaurant in NYC costs an average of $300,000 and purchasing a food truck upfront costs $50,000. In comparison, the cheapest cart I could find online is currently selling for $57.99. (Prices may vary.)
To set up a pseudo food stand, a burner or grill is usually placed within the main compartment of a food cart. This set up, though modest, can produce enough heat to warm up or cook the food that is placed on top. Even during winter, people can head to these carts to purchase delicious and cheap Spanish food, such as fried plantains or Mexican street corn, usually topped with mayonnaise and chili powder.
