Some of the signs posted on street poles really catch my eye. Usually, they are used to advertise something, like an empty bedroom for rent. The one you see above, however, really brightened up my day.
It simply says, “Be Mighty,” in big, bold letters.
Then in tiny font, it says “#bemighty, take one and #passiton.”
This sentence is referring to the strips of paper dangling from the bottom of the sign. Each one had a quote on it. Mine said this:
“Let each of you see into your own mind. Do not memorize what I tell you. – Ma-Tsu
Be mighty.”
I later found out that this flyer is actually part of an art project, which began in May 2015. It was launched by Terrence Kelleman, who is an artist and entrepreneur. Every week, he puts up new flyers with different quotes on them in order to inspire people.
I also found an online video of Kelleman talking about the project and that's where I learned that he is also the creator of the the Mighty Wallet - the first ever wallet made with DuPont™ Tyvek® fabric. I was so excited to hear that because I actually carry one!
Reading his story was truly inspiring. Many years ago, Kelleman was actually a struggling artist in NYC. He launched his company with only $300.00 to invest, but now, he is a successful entrepeneur.
His story makes me wonder where I'll be a few years from now.
