After a few scorching hot days over the weekend, temperatures have settled back down in the city. There's a possibility of rain on Friday—but don't let that deter you from going out this weekend.

Tuesday marked the 110th anniversary of the 1906 Earthquake and Fire. The San Francisco History Association, the Fire Department, history lovers and residents were out in the early hours of the morning near Dolores Park, to help put a fresh coat of paint on the Golden Hydrant that stands at the corner of 20th and Church.

This week also brought a chef shakeup at French-Latin restaurant Manos Nouveau. Chef-owner Manuel Montalban will be taking over full control of the kitchen, and has launched a full new menu to celebrate this change.

Let's take a look at a few of the highlights for this week in the Castro.

Thursday night is the kickoff to the two-week-long San Francisco International Film Festival. The Castro Theatre will serve as the opening-night venue, screening the Jane Austen adaptation Love & Friendship, starring Kate Beckinsale and Chloe Sevigny.

Magnet founder Steve Gibson announced last week that he'll be resigning to take a job at the State Office of AIDS. Join him Thursday at Magnet to say farewell and celebrate everything that he has accomplished in his 13 years.

Head on down to Blackbird Sunday afternoon for their first-ever Blackbird Bazaar. There, you'll find a variety of local artists and small businesses from jewelry makers, woodworkers, candle makers, candy artisans, ceramicists, displaying and selling their crafts.

Finally, this Tuesday is the night to eat out for a good cause, as part of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation's 16th annual Dining Out For Life. A huge swath of Castro restaurants (and others around the city) will donate up to 25 percent of the day's proceeds to the organization.
