It's been another beautiful week in San Francisco, with temperatures expected to reach the low 80s today, but you'll have to enjoy it while it lasts. Rain—yes, that wet stuff we haven't felt in weeks—could potentially be back this later this week, beginning on Friday.
Whether it rains or not, here's a few events you should considering checking out this weekend.
Join critically acclaimed author Augusten Burroughs (Running with Scissors, Dry) at Books Inc. in the Castro tonight as he shares his new memoir, Lust & Wonder. The new memoir "examines what it means to be in love, what it means to be in lust, and what it means to be figuring it all out."
Also tonight, celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Bay Area Reporter at this year's Besties Awards at Oasis, honoring the LGBT best of the bay. This free community celebration will include a variety of performances, with singer-writer-director Shawn Ryan as guest host.
Last month, the Chronicle debuted an ambitious special report, "Last Men Standing," which follows the lives of eight San Francisco men who've been living with HIV and AIDS for decades. On Friday night, they'll premiere an accompanying feature-length documentary film about the men at the Castro Theatre.
Spend your Saturday evening celebrating 14 years of the LGBT Center at the annual Soiree 2016, hosted by Juanita More at the Terra Gallery. This year's theme is Imaginarium, with performers that bringing life to the Soiree in an exciting, vibrant and whimsical way.
Round out your weekend with Big Top at Beaux, featuring RuPaul's Drag Race Season 8 contestant Nayasha Lopez (who has the unfortunate distinction of having been eliminated twice in the same season). Help Nayasha forget about what happened on Drag Race by enjoying a few cocktails with her while she performs live.
