All Rise: Block Party Tonight For New 'LocoL Bakery' In West OaklandPhotos: Albertino M.

LocoL will be celebrating the launch of its West Oakland bakery project on Friday, but thanks to tipster extraordinaire Albertino M., we've learned that the eatery is throwing a block party this afternoon to say 'hello' to the neighborhood.

From 5–7, "or 'til food runs out," curious customers will be able to sample LocoL Bakery's wares at no charge, Al reports.

On March 31, the bakery has its official Grand Opening from 3–7pm. Customers can purchase items like homemade beef or veggie chili, garden salads, or buy whole or by-the-slice pizza. LocoL is also proud of its "bunnzz" (plain, buttery or egg and cheese), which can be washed down with green juice, agua frescas and $1 coffee.

Chefs Roy Choi and Daniel Patterson founded the LocoL chain with the goal of bringing nutritious, affordable and "revolutionary" fast food to underserved neighborhoods. In addition to a food truck, the team already operates two brick-and-mortar locations and is reportedly looking into additional outposts for the East Bay and San Francisco.

LocaL Bakery has taken over the building formerly occupied by Tomm’s Bar-B-Q & Deli, located less than two miles from its second shop on Broadway.
