It's Over: The Least Terrible Spots For An Austin BreakupPhoto: Denise K./Yelp

All good things must come to an end—as well as some not-so-good ones. If you're ready to bring your relationship to a close (and would rather do it in public to avoid any unwanted drama), we've got your back. Here are five spots in Austin that are quiet and (relatively) private, allowing some space for tough conversations.

Mayfield Park
Tarrytown

With 23 acres of lush gardens and ponds, this serene park provides plenty of hidden nooks for you and your soon-to-be-ex to have a quiet heart-to-heart. After the deed is done, a long walk among the flowers and strutting peacocks can be a nice way to sort out difficult thoughts.

Firehouse Lounge
Downtown

Thanks to its location behind a sliding bookcase, this speakeasy isn't as well-trafficked as some of Austin's other bars—though it's not so quiet that everyone in the place will hear your conversation. The bad news will feel less bad over a happy hour drink or two (everything's $2 off until 8pm nightly). If you overdo it on drowning your sorrows, you can even spend the night in a private room in the adjacent hostel.

Blunn Creek Preserve
South Austin/Travis Heights

This mile-long trail is adjacent to St. Edwards University, but with few hikers navigating its thickets of trees, it's a good place to get some privacy in nature when you're ready to bare your soul. Once you and your now-ex have gone your separate ways, you can cruise over to South Lamar and drown your sorrows at The Golden Goose or Corner Bar.

Once Over Coffee Bar
South Austin/Bouldin Creek

The quiet back patio at this chill coffee spot is big and shady, ideal for having an intimate conversation under the oaks. You and your once-special someone can gaze at Bouldin Creek while you ponder what might have been. Afterwards, make a special trip to nearby Sugar Mama's or La Mexicana, where you can soothe your bitter heart with something sweet.

The Tigress Pub
North Loop

This tiny cocktail bar has only a handful of tables, making it a perfect spot for those rough talks. And of course, it has some seriously stiff drinks to help them go down a little easier. The staff is especially friendly, so if you want to pour your heart out over a few post-breakup rounds, you're sure to find a sympathetic ear.
