
A new brewery has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 1001 N 2nd St. in Northern Liberties, the new spot is called Urban Village Brewing Company.
Open since June 1st, the new business aims to deliver both craft brews and wood-fired pizza. According to Urban Village's website, "Urban Village is the realization of the goal to create a concept that is thoroughly unique in its provision of craft beer and natural fermented yeast dough pizza fired in brick ovens."
On the food front, expect a variety of pizzas (all with feminine names), plus sandwiches (think pork belly with pickled fennel, goat cheese & romesco), salads, and mussels. A selection of 12 beers is on tap help to wash it all down (and, if beer's not your thing, there's also wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options). Urban Village Brewing Company has gotten good reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of 14 reviews on Yelp.
Jackie B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 5th, said: "Northern Liberities finally has a brewery again (RIP Schmidt's). I've seen the beginnings of this brewery since late last year and have been patiently waiting for it's arrival."
Yelper C S. added: “We are so excited to finally have our new go to place for drinks and food!! The service was great, the food was fantastic."
And Eli W. said: "Best atmosphere!!! amazing outside tables and little fire pits and string lights all right at the top of The Piazza."
