If you've got cheeseburgers on the mind, a recent opening in the neighborhood is need-to-know. The newcomer to Wallingford, called Wallyburger, is located at 1719 N 45th St. (between N Wallingford Ave & N Densmore Ave).
Owned by local resident Gary Reynolds, the new burger joint is styled after an Austin saloon and roadhouse, with John Wayne posters, music from Johnny Cash, and menu offerings named after country music greats.
Diners can expect to see nine different types of burgers on the menu, including the Folsom Prison Bleu (bleu cheese, pickled red onion, bacon, tomato & Wally sauce, $8.25), the Dirty Dan (deep fried jalapeños, housemade spicy cheddar queso & Texas lemon sauce, $7.75) and the Jolene, a vegan option for $8.50. If you're not up for a burger, the eatery also has fried chicken ($8.75) and deep fried cod ($7.75) sandwiches, along with an assortment of sides and milkshakes.
With a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, Wallyburger seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Lana R., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 28th, said: "Good burger, good service! I can vouch for the Folsom Prison Bleu, the fries, and and the WallySauce. Nice thick-cut bacon on the burger and the fries were crisp and yummy!"
Yelper Marie B. added: "Finally and true summer weather has come to the Seattle area! Perfect timing for Wallyburger."
And Cora A. said: "Cute little place--the decor is a lot of fun. Burgers were juicy and tasty, and the fries were great. I really appreciate that I can get a smaller sized burger, too!"
With a price rating of two dollar signs on Yelp, an outing to Wallyburger is estimated to cost $11-$30 per person.
