Home base may be the only place where you can dine indoors with your dog (thanks, health code), but when the weather is warm, Austin is full of patios where pups are welcome. Whether you're seeking a casual beer or snack or a full meal, there are plenty of spots around town to take your dog for an alfresco dinner—or lunch, or brunch.
Austin Beer Garden Brewing Company (ABGB)
South Austin
Named the Brewpub of the Year at last year's prestigious Great American Beer Festival, ABGB offers amenities for pups that are almost as good as its house brews. The patio features a watering station, bowls, and shady spots to keep your dog cool in the Texas heat, and there are regular events to support pet adoption advocacy group Austin Pets Alive!, with $1 from every pint going to the cause. Your dog might even get a doggy bag from your beer—in the form of a dog treat made with spent grain from the brewing process.
Austin Terrier
Far West/Northwest Hills

As long as your dog follows the house rules (no excessive barking), the covered patio in the back of Austin Terrier is an ideal place for your four-legged friend to hide away from the sweltering heat while you enjoy a half-price bottle of wine on a Monday night. If you're a Boston terrier lover, be sure to check out the murals on the inside walls, which depict groups of the namesake pooches as the Beatles and KISS.
Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden
Rainey Street Historic District

With 30 kinds of housemade sausage and 100 brews on tap, Banger's is popular with all walks of life, but dog owners are particularly fond of the monthly Mega Mutt Mondays, held every third Monday of the month from 5-7pm. Local dog-centric businesses set up shop in the beer garden with free training sessions, grooming and giveaways, and half-off pints for humans. Even if you can't make the event, Banger's is a great place to bring your pup for a treat—there's special housemade "dog sausage" that's safe for pooches to enjoy, and a dog run to help keep them active.
Yard Bar
Allandale

Yard Bar is basically an amusement park for dogs, with a massive off-leash agility course complete with "bark rangers," doggie ice cream, and a full bar for pet owners. For an annual fee of $150, you can bring your dog anytime you want, and participate in fun annual events like a real-life Puppy Bowl. And be sure not to miss the annual New Year's Hair of the Dog party, with contests for everything from Best Dog Mohawk to Best Dog/Owner Lookalike.
Hops & Grain
East Austin
Since humans get happy hour, it's only fair that dogs also enjoy their own Yappy Hour. On the last Wednesday of every month, this craft brewery offers a free biscuit to dogs and a free order of jalapeño hushpuppies to their humans, along with brownies from LovePuppies Brownies. Local company Fabulous Paws also sets up shop on-site, allowing you to outfit your pooch with a new bowtie or bandanna.
Uncle Billy's Brewery & Smokehouse
South Austin

The dog-friendly patio at Uncle Billy's is a great place for humans to enjoy a beer, while their dogs get a fresh bowl of water and some housemade dog treats. There are multiple TVs on the patio for catching a game, but if you and your pup would rather do something a little more active, join up with The Austin Dog Walk Club Meetup group, which regularly meets at Uncle Billy's for Friday happy hour strolls, concluding with a post-walk beer.
Moontower Saloon
South Austin
With more than 11 acres of dog-friendly hangout space, this massive South Austin space offers plenty of room for dogs to play while the grown-ups drink, along with amenities like fresh water and dog waste bag stations. Your pooch can socialize while you grab a beer, play a round of corn hole, or get a bite to eat from one of the three on-site restaurants.
