A night out on the town with your friends is always fun. But once the weather starts warming up, there's nothing better than tossing back a few daytime drinks while hanging out on some of Chicago's best patios. Whether you're looking for stunning views of the city or TVs to watch your favorite teams al fresco, this guide has you covered. Here are six spots where you can catch some rays, have a few drinks and kick back with friends.

Best Rooftop Bar: Cerise
The Loop

For a panoramic view of Chicago's skyline, make your way to Cerise, the rooftop bar located on the 26th floor of the Virgin Hotel. Even in the depths of winter, it has killer city views, but the best time to visit is summer, when you can lounge on sofas on the outdoor patio and enjoy the cool breezes. Live DJ sets are a frequent occurrence (check the schedule to see who's spinning), and prices aren't out of control given the location—$7-8 for beers and $13 for cocktails.

Patio with Killer Cocktails: Luxbar
Near North Side/Gold Coast

For a spot that serves hearty American fare like fried chicken and burgers, Luxbar has a surprisingly French-looking front patio, complete with wicker chairs, checkered tablecloths, and baskets of flowers. Just don't expect Pernod and pastis: the specialty here is all-American bourbon, whether in cocktails (try the house old-fashioned, with cherry vanilla bitters, or the build-your-own Manhattan) or neat (the whiskey selection runs to more than 100 bottles).

Patio to Catch the Game: Benchmark
Near North Side/Old Town

You can watch the game without missing a minute of those fleeting Chicago summers on this sports bar's sundeck, which features two 42-inch flatscreens. Order up an after-work spread of mini burgers, barbacoa nachos, and a "Big Ass Mule" (a $40 Moscow mule that's large enough for six people), and root on your favorite team. Or drop by on a lazy summer Sunday for baseball and brunch, with all-you-can-eat food and bottomless mimosas for $40.

Best Patio For Brunch: River Roast
Near North Side/River North

If you're singing the blues after overindulging the night before, there's nothing better for a hangover than brunch with a side of fresh air. This British-inspired spot offers a breathtaking view of the water and the downtown skyline, which will lift your spirits as you caffeinate with some Dark Matter espresso or a Hellion nitro cold brew. Add in some biscuits and gravy or "hangover soup" (a.k.a. Mexican pozole), and you'll be returned to full spirits in no time.

Best Dog-Friendly Patio: Parlor Pizza Bar
Near West Side/West Loop

Both locations of this hip pizzeria welcome pups on their patios, which provide bowls of water to keep dogs hydrated. Pet owners can keep themselves hydrated as well, thanks to the 24 taps of craft beer and margaritas and sangrias by the pitcher. And of course, there's plenty of pizza, offered in affordable "packs" with a side of salad or balsamic-glazed fried mozzarella.

Trendiest Patio: Pasteur
Edgewater

Pasteur may serve traditional Vietnamese fare, but its splashy environs are definitely a step up from your neighborhood pho joint. That's especially evident during summer nights on the massive backyard patio, featuring trees lit with twinkling lights, water features, and plenty of cushy seating for diners and drinkers alike. Favorite dishes include the clay pot catfish, the crispy chicken or vegetable eggrolls, and the signature bo buc lac, wok-tossed beef cubes with red wine sauce.
