Here Are America's 50 Favorite Donut Shops: How Does Houston Stack Up?

With abundant donut options across America's cities and towns, it's not hard to find a satisfying treat near you. But when was the last time you had a truly mind-blowing donut?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top 50 donut shops around the country, using Yelp data collected in early May and our own special sauce to produce a data-driven breakdown of where donuts reign supreme in the US—and how Houston stacks up.

As it turns out, Houston has one of the country's best donut emporiums. Karma Kolache, (formerly called Koala Kolache) came in at #34, with a perfect 5- star average and 199 reviews.

What makes Karma Kolache special? Texans love their kolache, and the eatery’s popularity spurred it to move its big bold menu of boudin, brisket, BBQ, donuts and kronuts from Cypress to a new location in Houston.

Although Karma Kolache is Houston’s only donut eatery that made our list, Texas is well represented nationally. Austin’s Gourdough's and Round Rock Donuts landed at #4 and #12, respectively, and Dallas’ Hypnotic Donuts squeaked in it at #49.
