Looking to chow down on some Indian fare? A new spot has you covered. The newcomer to the Heights, called Tarka Indian Kitchen, is located at 721 W 19th St.
Tarka, which opened in mid-June, already boasts a number of locations in Texas, with three Austin outposts and locations in San Antonio and Round Rock. The Heights location is its first in Houston, however—and it brings its menu of Indian classics, from samosas to curries, kabobs to biryanis. (Check out the full menu here.)
Tarka Indian Kitchen has made a good impression thus far, with a four-star rating out of 58 reviews on Yelp.
S N., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 8th, said: "Does exactly what is says on the tin...casual Indian food. A great addition to the Heights! Being Brits, we really miss our fix of Indian cuisine without having to travel to Hillcroft."
Yelper Jackie K. added: “I've tried Tarka in Austin and really liked it, and my experience this time was the same--it was great! I had takeout and ordered the mild chicken tikka masala and garlic naan--totally solid."
And Natalie E. said: "My friend and I ordered the chicken korma and chicken tikka masala. The mild option had no heat at all, but we figured better safe than sorry. The tikka masala had a delicious rich sauce."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Tarka Indian Kitchen is open Friday and Saturday from 11am–10pm, and Sunday–Thursday from 11am–9pm.
