Looking to chow down on some Mediterranean fare? A new spot has you covered. The new addition to University Park, called CAVA, is located at 3201 S Hoover St.
CAVA, which was created by childhood friends Ike Grigoropoulos, Chef Dimitri Moshovitis, and Ted Xenohristos. The restaurant "celebrates the flavors of their families’ traditional Greek and Mediterranean cooking in a casual modern setting." CAVA also has other locations throughout Southern California, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Virginia.
CAVA allows you to build your own meal to your own taste. First, start with a base of greens, grains, or soup. Then choose up to three "dips" like hummus, tzatziki, or eggplant with red pepper, and top it off with a protein like falafel, spicy lamb meatballs, braised beef. (See the full menu here.)
CAVA has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Cindy C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 11th, said: "First restaurant in the new village to open up! Second restaurant I've had Mediterranean food at and loving it. I really like the concept on how you can customize your bowl (similar to Chipotle)."
Yelper Dierra L. added: “Went to the soft opening the day and waited an hour and let me tell you the food was worth it! As a student living around USC and I know this place will be a favorite.”
Head on over to check it out: CAVA is open daily from 11am–10pm.
