A new Mexican spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 2309 S Alma St. in San Pedro, the newcomer is called The Chori-Man.
Humberto Raygoza—AKA the Chori-Man—is known by some as one of the best chorizo makers in Los Angeles, and has been selling his homemade spicy pork product wholesale and at the LA Flower District farmers market for the better part of two years. Chori-Man is Raygoza's first brick-and-mortar location.
For breakfast—or lunch for that matter– try the Burrito con Papas with your choice of red or green chorizo, potatoes, eggs, and cheese.
There's also the braised beef burrito with red or green chorizo, beans, pickled onions, and cheese; or the chorizo and quinoa salad burrito with a spicy slaw. You can also try the red or green chorizo in a taco, or take some home by the pound. Don't forget to grab an Agua Fresca made daily as well.
Currently, there is no seating at Chori-Man, but Raygoza hopes to have a few tables for outdoor seating soon.
With a 4.5-star rating out of 21 reviews on Yelp so far, The Chori-Man has been warmly received by patrons.
Luther C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 13th, said: "Chori-Man takes the Chores out of your Man. Sunday brunch? Chori-man. Friday post work meal? chori-man. Legend goes and if you chant Chori-man three times he will actually appear before you."
Yelper K K. added: “Breakfast burrito is $10 but taste like $1000. Yes they are simply that good. Pickled onions and red salsa are tasty. Call and order and there is no sitting. Parking is street parking.”
And Chris G. said: "I enjoyed my experience. For me, chorizo is an infrequent indulgence, and which I LOVE in a breakfast burrito. I went with the breakfast burrito and the green chorizo - A+. "
Head on over to check it out: The Chori-Man is open Friday–Sunday from 8am–8pm. (It's closed on Monday–Thursday.)
