A new pizza joint and cocktail bar, offering pizza and more, has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Blue Pan Pizza, the fresh arrival is located at 3509 E 12th Ave. in Congress Park.
Joining Blue Pan Pizza's West Highlands neighborhood store, the new Congress Park location offers full-service for those dining in, plus take-out, delivery, and pizza by the slice. There are also 20 rotating draft beers, and a wine program that will ultimately develop into a wine cellar with "more robust selection of wine in the summer of 2018."
The menu features an array of Detroit-style pies, along with classic Italian, cracker-thin Chicago-style, New York-style slices, and gluten-free crusts.
The Brooklyn Bridge pie, which took first prize at the 2014 International Pizza Challenge, is topped with mozzarella, ricotta, pecorino and brick cheeses, sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, chopped garlic, Sicilian oregano. For fans of a more traditional pie, there's the Margherita di Napoli with basil, Fior Di Latte fresh mozzarella, sea salt and olive oil. (You can view the full menu here.)
The new cocktail bar has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.
Lisa K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 27th, said: "Congress Park got a little cooler and when this place opened it's doors. Seriously awesome Detroit Style pizza. I never thought I'd say those words... being a die hard NY pizza fan."
Yelper Marci H. added: “Legit Detroit-style pizza. The pizza and salads were so good! I am so happy this location opened up in my neighborhood.”
