With two weeks delay because of the California wildfires, Bay Area restaurants have now received their yearly awarded Michelin stars.
Leading the city's list is Coi (373 Broadway), which received the maximum number of three stars for the first time.
One star equals a very good restaurant in its category and two stars denote an place with excellent cooking worth a detour, but three stars indicate exceptional cuisine that merits a special journey. Michelin's Red Guide reviewers, also known as inspectors, remain anonymous.
Thank you @MichelinGuideSF for ⭐️⭐️⭐️! Congratulations to @Matthew_Kirkley and team!!

Two years ago, Daniel Patterson handed Coi over to chef Matt Kirkley, who led Coi to one additional star.
The North Beach restaurant serves modern seafood and offers one tasting menu nightly. Coi is still part of the Daniel Patterson Group, which has opened six additional restaurants and bars in the Bay Area.

Coi joins Benu (22 Hawthorne St.), Quince (470 Pacific Ave.) and Saison (178 Townsend St.) in San Francisco, as well as The Restaurant at Meadowood, The French Laundry and Manresa among the region's highest-rated restaurants.
The Bay Area has now seven three-starred restaurants, compared to three in Chicago and six in New York. SFMOMA's ground-floor restaurant In Situ (151 3rd St.), sushi spot Kinjo (2206 Polk St.), and Rich Table (199 Gough St.) are new on the one-starred list.
"We're so honored to be awarded a Michelin star," Sarah Rich, chef and co-owner of Rich Table told us via email.

"Our whole team has poured all of their energy and creativity into Rich Table for the past five years, and we're so proud to be recognized among such great company in the Bay Area," Sarah added.
