A new cocktail bar and restaurant spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. The fresh addition to the East Village, called Beatnik, is located at 1604 W Chicago Ave. (between Ashland Ave. & Marshfield Ave.)

This new spot is described as a cocktail bar and restaurant inspired by the bohemian aesthetic and lifestyle of 1950s Europe and America, but specializing in Middle Eastern fare.

On the menu, expect to see small plates like halloumi cheese with preserved lemon yogurt, grilled oysters with egg-yolk jam, potatoes three ways and more.

For entrees, look for dishes like a whole pan-roasted fish with Kerala curry and green mango salad, roasted Lebanese-style lamb with pistachio tzatziki, and a tomahawk steak with black garlic chimichurri.

There are a variety of sides on offer as well, like house-made pickles, shaved summer squash and more. (You can view the full menu here.)

With a four-star rating out of 30 reviews on Yelp so far, the new cocktail bar is getting solid feedback from clientele.

Gina S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 7th, said: "The atmosphere is awesome—kind of Gothic, lit with candles all over. 3 bars; I think the wait is about 30-45 min w/o reservations. It is pretty typical on a Friday night. The DJis fantastic."

Head on over to check it out: Beatnik is open Tuesday–Friday from 5pm–2am, Saturday from 11am–3am, and Sunday from 11am–2am. (It's closed on Monday.)
